Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO)

It shall be the mission of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department to provide competent professional law enforcement services with a commitment to preserve and protect human life, property and the rights of all people in accordance with the constitution and the laws of the United States and State of Alabama. Madison County Fire Department (CFD)

The Madison County Volunteer Fire departments respond to fire and emergency medical calls in a 600 square mile area of rural Madison County. In year 2011, volunteers responded to 10,500 calls.
The more than 500 volunteers man 16 volunteer fire departments. Calls are dispatched through the E911 Center to 34 fire stations, equipped with pumpers, tankers, brush trucks, rescue trucks with extrication equipment, an aerial truck and medic units. The volunteers are trained personnel. State guidelines dictate continuing education courses in both fire fighting and medical responses.
The Volunteer Fire Departments are funded by the Madison County Commission, through a 3 mil property tax levied on property owners living outside the city limits of Huntsville. They also receive some funds from the State Forestry Commission, the State Legislative Discretionary fund, and community fund-raisers.

The Huntsville Police Department is a “Professional Law Enforcement Organization” utilizing modern technology, state of the art equipment and comprehensive training techniques.   The Department is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency through the “Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement” (CALEA).

Huntsville Fire & Rescue (HF&R)

Under the general guidance of Fire Chief Howard McFarlen, the department is staffed on a 24/7/365 basis and at your service every second of every day in every neighborhood. The primary goal of Huntsville Fire & Rescue is to serve the public by protecting life, property and the environment. The department is staffed with 395, well-trained personnel and teams with diverse and highly specialized skill sets to meet the wide ranging demands for the City of Huntsville, Alabama. Because our firefighters are often the first responders to citizens  in need, Huntsville firefighters provide many other valuable services to the community in addition to fire suppression, including emergency medical treatment, technical rescue services and response to hazardous material releases.
